A Few Interesting Tidbits Before the EPL Weekend Kicks Off
Just a few fun facts before kickoff of Week 9 of the Premier League:
Manchester United vs. Bolton - Since Bolton was promoted back in 2001 - they have played at Old Trafford 8 times...they are 2-0-6 in those matches. In fact, Bolton have lost 6 in a row and have been outscored 19-5. But this could easily change with how poorly Rio Ferdinand is playing at the moment - this is absolutely the worst stretch Rio has ever played for the Red Devils! To counter Rio's horrific form, will Van Der Sar return to get this team a lift?
Aston Villa vs. Chelsea - Frank Lampard's last goal in the flow of play came more than 7 months ago - back in April. Also, Carlo Ancelotti is calling John Terry his new Maldini...the thing is - I just don't remember Maldini ever slipping while having the Champion's League title on his boot and missing the PK while the keeper went the wrong way!
Sunderland vs. Liverpool - Liverpool will be without both of their stars in this weekend's game. Steven Gerrard & Spanish International Fernando Torres are both out with injuries. Darren Bent is absolutely on fire and the Black Cats are looking to snag all 3 points from the Reds. Not bad odds on the moneyline for Sunderland +235 -I'd take that with this match being played at the Stadium of Light.
Arsenal vs. Birmingham - Gunners attacking midfielder & French International, Nasri, could be back in action this weekend.
Portsmouth vs. Tottenham - Harry Redknapp returns to Fratton Park for the first time since leaving Portsmouth for Spurs. Harry says he will not lose any sleep or fear for his safety heading back to Pompey...if that's the case - why is Harry bringing his own bodyguards.
Everton vs. Wolves - Everton looking to stretch their unbeaten streak to 6.
Stoke vs. West Ham - West Ham took all 6 points last year...Stoke manager Tony Pulis doesn't think West Ham should be in the relegation zone - saying they have played much better than their record indicates.
